About Me

Hi, I’m Ailsa  – a fibre artist with a deep love for creativity and craftsmanship. As a finalist on The Game of Wool TV show, Channel 4, I’ve had the incredible opportunity to showcase my passion for fibre arts on a national stage. It was a masterclass in design and knitting technique. I thrive on transforming natural fibres into beautiful, functional pieces that tell a story.

My journey began with a rotten night shift, internet tutorials and a crochet hook. It has grown into a lifelong commitment to preserving traditional techniques while exploring modern artistry. Whether I’m working with wool, experimenting with new materials, or teaching others the joy of fibre crafts, my goal is always the same: to celebrate the beauty of handmade.

I started my social media accounts several years ago with the handle 'Ailsa Makes Things' because it's not always about the wool! When I'm not playing with strings, you'll find me making candles, jewellery, or sculpting metal. Usually though, I'll be outside enjoying the seasons by the beach with my dog, Brillo.
